CHAIRMAN’S NEWSLETTER, May 2022

We did not expect that the Coronavirus would have such a devastating effect upon our ability to lead normal lives. As the time for our Annual General Meeting approaches I look back on the last AGM, which was held as a Virtual AGM and remember how unusual it was and how it involved us in some detailed research to make sure we were doing the right thing. I do not think that we envisaged the on-going problems associated with the virus would result in our not being able to hold an AGM during 2021 and so it is with some relief that we are, at last, able to have a normal AGM this year. It will be good to see our members “in the flesh” and to be able to undertake our business in the time honoured fashion.

The good news is, however, that since the restrictions were lifted earlier this year we have been back on the road doing what we really want to do and helping others to excel. Here I need to express my thanks and appreciation for our great team of observers who’s function is to help you to raise your game to the point where you can sit and pass the IAM Advanced Test and help protect yourself, your family and other road users by employing the skills you have been show as part of your time with your observer. We have successfully helped a number of associates to pass their advanced test since we restarted work, some achieving the highest accolade of a F!rst in their test.

I also have to report that our Vice Chairman has been doing his bit and was seen, not so long ago, sitting in a car park in Dover waiting to go overseas and deliver relief supplies to Ukraine. Our members do get seen in some interesting places!

So if you would like to take a trial run and have one of our observers do a quick assessment of your driving to see if we can help you improve then please get in touch – details are in the contacts section of this web site.

I hope to see you at one of our meetings in the near future – drive safely!
